"Mighty Joe Young" is an entertaining remake of the 1949 black & white classic. The plot sees Giant Ape "Mighty Joe Young" transported to a refuge in the USA for safety reasons but after being mistreated by poachers (seeking revenge on Joe for a previous encounter) Mighty Joe escapes & goes on the rampage through the streets of L.A. & Hollywood. Look out for fun cameos by Terry Moore, star of the original film & Ray Harryhausen special effects creator of the original ape. This big budget ($49 million) Walt Disney remake is an enjoyable family film, packed full of eye-catching special effects & lots of fun for audiences of all ages.
